About This Project

Hi, my name is Dani Perez, and for the American Love Project I worked on a piece called Peaceful Protest. For my artwork I wanted to represent ideals such as freedom of speech and diversity in this melting pot called the US. To do this, I took the hot button issue of police conduct in America. While there definitely needs to a discussion on the topic, I wanted to represent an idealized version of the Police and their duties to the people. So, we see two women, sitting side-by-side, one a protester, the other an officer. The officer offers her a water, and to the left, a quote by Martin Luther King Jr., a man who symbolizes peaceful protesting in America.
